Return to all developmentsNursery Grange lies within the semi-rural Parish of Lingfield, in the south east corner of Surrey, surrounded by areas of greenbelt countryside. Close-by are the Lingfield Nature Reserves, which are only the 2nd village-based reserves in the country to be awarded Local Nature Reserve status by English Nature. The 26-acre site, run by volunteers, is a mixture of meadows, hedges and woodland copses and also boasts a wetland area, an orchid and wildflower meadow and a butterfly garden. The public have free access to the Reserves for country walks, picnics and nature trails.
Lingfield’s links with its long history are very evident. The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul was rebuilt in 1431, although the original 14th Century tower still remains. The area around the church has been designated a Conservation Area and includes many well-preserved buildings from the 16th-18th Centuries. In the village centre, alongside the pond, is a well known local landmark, The Cage‚ a temporary gaol which was last used in 1882. The nearby oak tree is said to be about 400 years old and a ring of trees grown from its acorns has been planted in one of the Nature Reserves.
The village of Lingfield has many amenities and offers everything one requires for day-to-day shopping. For an even greater selection, the town of Oxted lies approximately 8 miles to the north and East Grinstead 5 miles to the south.
